My 2¢ Worth

id you know that search engines index less than 10% of the entire Internet! The remaining 90% is generally referred to as the "Invisible Web."

o, just where is this Invisible Web?

he Invisible Web is content that is closed-off to search engines. Specifically, 200+ billion web pages that are stored not as static web pages, but as on-demand database content. Robot spiders are not advanced enough to read these private databases. It takes a human reader to see these "invisible pages" by directly visiting these sites and making direct database requests. These requests are handled by php, Perl or other server side technologies.

atabase-Driven Web Content are web pages that exist only temporarily, and are generated only when readers request answers from a large database. These temporary web pages are dynamic, usually cannot be bookmarked, and commonly have extremely long URL addresses.

xamples of database-Driven Content are job postings, real-time weather reports and even sale items from your favorite stores. These temporary web pages, once displayed, cease to exist moments later.

How to Quit your Day Job with Turnkey Websites

by: Ty Wenzel

It's one of the hottest searched terms on the internet right now: Turnkey Websites.

What are they exactly? According to Wikipedia, The term turnkey is often used in the technology industry, most commonly to describe pre-built computer "packages" in which everything needed to perform a certain type of task is put together by the supplier and sold as a bundle.

In other words, turnkey websites usually refers to getting a pre-built fully-loaded website for one low price, including its domain name, design, images, programming - and at times, also the dropshipper contact info to deliver the products if it's an e-commerce website or the ebooks that the website is selling.

How exactly do you make a living with turnkey websites? By getting them through a low cost turnkey website provider and selling them over and over again on venues like ebay - not only do you secure the customer's money with the final cost of the auction, but you secure this same customer as your hosting customer who will pay you around $9.95 every month for however long they keep their website.

But you know nothing about servers and the hosting business? So what - most of my hosting resellers have never even owned an html editor before, but they're making thousands of dollars a month following my user-friendly plan. Here is exactly what you need to make a lot of money by selling turnkey websites:

  1. hosting reseller account (http://www.designshrine.net/host/reseller.html)
  2. A membership to a turnkey website provider (http://www.designshrinephpfactory.com/)
  3. A free html editor (we recommend NVU)
  4. An ftp program (we recommend FlashFXP)
  5. An account with ebay

That's it! Here is the process:

  1. You log into your turnkey website membership and download, say, one of the Real Estate websites.
  2. You purchase a domain for it and set the Domain Name Servers to your hosting reseller account (i.e. ns1.yoursite.com and ns2.yoursite.)
  3. You install the downloaded turnkey website to your hosting reseller server.
  4. You list it on eBay with the description that they will win this fabulous Turnkey Real Estate website and it is REQUIRED THAT THEY HOST THE SITE WITH YOU for $9.95 per month (or whatever you want to charge).
  5. Auction ends and let's says you made $175 for the website alone, on the low side. You just made $175 PLUS WHO KNOWS HOW LONG IN RESIDUAL INCOME from the $9.95 per month! We have resellers making about $12,000 per month within one and a half years, but you can realistically expect about $2000 per month within the first 8 months or less.
  6. You next install a Term Paper Store with a snappy domain and once again, you made another $9.95 per month.
  7. Then the ebook store gets you another $9.95 per month.

TURNKEY WEBSITE SELLING IS GREAT BUT THE REAL MONEY IS IN THE HOSTING. You get the idea. You're selling information.

The only requirements of most turnkey website membership stores is that you are required to sell their websites with a domain already installed onto your server. You can never sell the script as they do or your account will be terminated.

This is not a get rich quick scheme or a slap 'em up website that you hope will make you money just by existing on the internet - that NEVER happens. Like any business, it takes some sweat equity - but not very much. Normally it takes about 2 hours per day in installing websites (usually takes about 5 - 10 minutes each) and answering questions from potential buyers.

When you quit your day job, you will have so many customers that you will be working 8 hours a day as I do, but it's all worth it - working at home or your own office with no one to answer to but yourself is worth everything in the world!

This week's TIP

Nowrap for Tables

Are your tables wrapping text and making some cells taller that others as a result? There's a very simple solution to this problem, an attribute of the <td> tag within your table. It's called nowrap and has no other value than itself. Here's how it works:

<td nowrap>

What this does is preclude text from wrapping inside the cell, but it will have the effect of stretching your tables horizontally. But if you want nice clean tables that don't have cell height variations, it's an effective method of ensuring all text stays on one line.

Understanding The Basics Of Resolution For Monitors And Video Cards

by: William Leung
Instant Imagers

Many people who use computers are confused about how resolution works. I hear it all the time from even experienced computer users. Monitor resolution is not a confusing topic if you understand the basics. I hope the following information will give you a better understanding of how resolution on a monitor actually works.

When you purchase a monitor or video graphics card for your computer, the hardware usually has its specifications printed on the box. There is a bunch of information printed, but the one you’re looking for probably looks something like this, 1024x768. These two numbers describe the horizontal and vertical pixel resolution. Monitors today will display graphics in different resolutions and that goes the same for the video card. The higher the two numbers, the better the resolution.

But what actually is resolution? Resolution is presented in the form of pixels. Think of the pixels as little squares on your screen. Let’s take the resolution 1024x768 as an example. A monitor that is displaying images in 1024x768 resolution means it’s using 1024 horizontal squares and 768 vertical squares to display the image. In other words, there are 1024 squares lined up adjacent to one another horizontally and 768 squares stacked on top of one another vertically. A higher resolution, such as 1280x1024, means there are now 1280 horizontal squares and 1024 vertical squares used to display the image. The more squares there are, the better the picture looks, given all other variables are equal. The reason is because more squares are used to draw the same image. With a higher resolution, each square, or pixel, is now smaller and a smaller pixel gets you more detail when displaying the image.

To summarize, each pixel on the monitor is one square. The more pixels you have, the better the image looks. So, if you’re buying a monitor or video card, in most cases, the higher the resolution, the better the image should appear. This of course holds true only if all other aspects of the monitor or video card of different manufacturers are the same such as memory, dot pitch, etc.

Now that you understand resolution, you’ll see why certain video or graphics look better on certain monitors and televisions. For example, standard broadcast television has a resolution of 640x480. DVD video has a resolution of 720x480. High Definition(or HD) video has resolutions of 1280x720 and 1920x1080. With all things being equal, High Definition video looks the best. Then standard DVD video, and then broadcast video. When I refer to all things, I mean compression, delivery method, interference, playback device, and anything else that might affect the video quality. We won’t get into those details as it can be tackled in another conversation.

I hope the above information has given you some insight into what resolution is and how it works regarding monitors and video cards. Understanding what resolution is and how it works will be helpful when deciding on making your next monitor or video card purchase.
