My 2¢ Worth

read somewhere that the average person spends about two years on the phone in their lifetime. I'm not sure how they derived that figure, but I dare say it's a lot more than two years

ince the advent of cell phones, it seems as if folks are on the phone all the time. It is not uncommon for me to see someone yakking on their cell phone while driving their car.

n any event, it's apparent that I'm not your average Joe. I haven't been on the phone in about ten days and that was a telemarketer. I hung up on 'em!

Put Your Web Site Into Over Drive With a Sales Letter, P2

by: Earma Brown
ClickEasyWebSites

Are you making this mistake with your business web site? Too many business owners think of their site as simply an online brochure. They use it as a place to store their hours of operation and their service list. A different way has emerged for the small business owner.

Add a business sales letter and your web site can be used as an effective marketing tool. Used in the right way, it will spear-head many successful marketing campaigns for you in the near future. Use these 18 tips to put your web site marketing campaign into over-drive with a sales letter:

1. List the top ten to fifteen benefits of your product or service.

Put your list in bullet form. Always focus more on your benefits than the features. Explain your benefits. Benefits are what move people to act. For example, "This air conditioner (your product/ebook) will save you time, effort, energy and money because of the built in features." It creates more value if you said, "Think of all the time, energy and money this air conditioner will provide you with it's lifetime guarantee," instead of "This air conditioner will last a lifetime."

2. Write compelling copy.

Draw your reader in like a big fish on a hook. Entice them to want to know more and more. It takes practice but use the copy that sold you as a template. Use benefits including the interactive and the enticing format.

3. Add Testimonials.

Most everyone wants to know who else has used your service and had a good experience. Testimonials speak up for your product or service. They act as a referral and even an endorsement. The compliments from another customer helps melt away your prospect's fears and doubts about buying from you online.

4. Make your offer more than once.

Give your prospects three to four chances to buy. Some may be ready to buy before they even get to your sales letter, so place "Buy Now" information at the top and sprinkle a few more buying opportunities along the way after your list of benefits, your guarantee, your summary of the book's features, and your testimonials.

5. Add value to your sales pitch with bonus gifts.

Make a list of bonus gifts. Select the bonus gifts before you write the sales letter. This way you can include the benefits in your sales message as a part of your product.

6. Make your copy effective.

If you have written your sales letter in one sitting; it’s not as effective as it could be. Write it one day and then revise the next day. Read it out loud. To measure how effective it is, look at how people read it versus how many actually buy. Install a hit counter to measure your success.

7. Write short sentences and paragraphs.

Short sentences and paragraphs will help the readability of your copy. Especially, if your letter is long, you will have better success with keeping the attention of your prospect.

8. Make your copy error-free.

If you have misspelled words or incomplete sentences, you will lose sales. Design your copy to be specific. Vague copy will also hinder your sales. It will prompt a lot of questions. If you are getting sales without questions, you know you have done a good job with your sales copy.

Don't wait to write your business sales letter. If you don't do it now, you could be this time next year with the same dreary, unprofitable response from your web site. Hire a 24/7 salesman (your business sales letter) and put your web site marketing into over drive to maximum sales.

This weeks Tip

Easy Image Rollover

Think mouse-overs are tough? Think again ... here's a totally easy way to change an image when the user hovers over it. The following code will require you to have two images, one that appears on page load, and one that appears when users hover or roll over the first image with their mouse. Finally, we also specify a return to our original image when the user mouses back out. customize the fields in red with your own links and images.

Step 1. Make a Link:

<a href="page1.html" onMouseOver="imagename.src='pic-2.gif'" onMouseOut="imagename.src='pic.gif'">

onMouseOut tells the browser that when the mouse is NOT over image imagename, then display pic.gif, which is the original image. If this piece is not there, you will get an error message.

Step 2. Add the Image:

<img src="pic.gif" name="imagename" border=0></a>. The NAME attribute is important - as the Javascript uses it.

You have now completed your image rollover. Pretty easy, huh?

Increase Targeted Traffic To Your Web Site For Free

by: Mark Krusch

One of the best ways for you to increase targeted traffic to your website when you don't want to spend a lot of money is to join some free traffic exchanges and start surfing. (Most traffic exchanges also have a paid program, but we will be focusing on just the free aspect in this article.) Your first tendency might be to think that these are not worth your time since they are free. However, you're about to see that they can bring you large numbers of targeted traffic in a relatively short amount of time. Free traffic exchanges work on the principle of bartering. If you view a certain number of websites, then your website will be shown to other folks who are surfing at the same exchange. It usually works out that if you surf (or view) 2 or 3 sites, you get 1 credit, which means your site will be shown to other surfers 1 time. That's also called a surfing ratio. Most traffic exchanges express this as 2:1 or 3:1. So after viewing 2 sites, you get 1 credit in your account. Also, there is ordinarily a timer which is used so that you must view the site being shown, for example, 20 seconds before you can move on to view the next site. The only "expense" required on your part is the time that it takes to view these sites online.

After joining a free traffic exchange, you'll set up your account and include your website which others will view on the traffic exchange. There are categories which you will select as areas in which you are interested in viewing websites. You will also select categories which best apply to the theme of your website. These selections will direct the traffic exchange to have your website shown in front of people who have indicated an interest in seeing your category of web site. This ensures that the traffic being sent to view your website has an interest in the type of website that you have. And this is what is defined as "targeted traffic."

The trick to using free traffic exchanges is to join many different free traffic exchanges and then do multiple surfing. For instance, open up 8 different browser sessions (Internet Explorer or Firefox, etc.) and login to 8 different traffic exchanges. Start surfing for credits in each session. By the time you go through all 8 of your browser sessions, (clicking in each session to view the next site) you can start at the first session and work your way through the remaining 7 sessions again. Repeat this process for ½ an hour and build up credits in each traffic exchange.

Recently, I joined 10 new traffic exchanges and started surfing using the technique described above. Note that some traffic exchanges will give you bonus credits just for joining. So with the bonus credits and the credits made from surfing, I received over 12,000 hits to my website that day. Yes, that was a lot of traffic. And the best part was – that traffic didn't cost me anything except the time required to surf.

So if you're ready to get some free targeted traffic to your website, just go to your favorite search engine and do a search for "free traffic exchange". Click on some of the results and join the exchanges. Start surfing using the technique outlined above and in just a short period of time you'll increase targeted traffic to your website for free.
